Tourist Information about Malaga
The Malaga province is located in the centre of the Costa del Sol. This sunny city is proud of its fascinating history. Tourists can find in Malaga a Roman theatre, a Moorish fortress and an impressive Renaissance cathedral. But there is also a lot of modernity: The Picasso museum attracts art lovers from all over the world and the “Calle Larios” (Larios Street) pedestrian walk is a paradise for shoppers. The house in which the famous son of the city –Picasso- was born is in Plaza de la Merced. Here Picasso painted his first doves, when he was a child. The central market, which is more than a hundred years old, is also really magnificent; you can enter it through a Moorish arch. Near the port is located an idyllic park which is full of exotic plants and flowers, where you can rest and eat a variety of “tapas” (Spanish starters) in typical bars. A great part of Malaga’s unique charm is due to its inhabitants. Southern Spain’s vitality is present throughout the city, especially during the fair. And during the “Semana Santa” (Holy Week), when very heavy thrones are carried through the streets, old traditions come back to life.
