For centuries Christians, Jews and Muslims, lived peacefully together in our country; they learnt from one another and complemented each other. After the reconquest by the Catholic Monarchs, the Moors’ legacy was integrated into the Spanish Christian culture. The best examples are the Torre del Oro (Golden tower) in Seville, the famous Alhambra in Granada and, of course, the Great Mosque of Córdoba; these have been declared World Heritage Sites by UNESCO, and their magic attracts visitors from all over the world. These cultural treasures are testimony to the time in which “Al-Andalus” was a cultural reference in Europe and a cultural bridge between East and West.
